FAQs

Is Anchorline a budgeting app?

No.

Anchorline can be used to track money, but it is not built around budgets, categories, or forecasts. It focuses on recording movement and understanding how balances change over time.

If you want strict budgeting rules, other tools may be a better fit.

Can I edit or delete past entries?

No.

Recorded events are not edited or removed. If something is wrong, you record a new event that corrects it. This keeps history intact and understandable.

What happens if I make a mistake?

You correct it by recording what fixes it.

For quantities, this might be an adjustment or transfer. For items, this might be an update or status change. The original event remains visible, and the correction explains how things were resolved.

Do I need to understand all the concepts to use Anchorline?

No.

You can start by creating a log and recording actions. Concepts like anchors, units, and linking become relevant as your system grows, but they are not required on day one.

Is Anchorline an accounting system?

No.

While it shares some ideas with accounting, Anchorline is more general. It can be used for money, but also for collections, assets, projects, and other systems where history matters.

Is my data locked into Anchorline?

No.

You can export your data at any time. Exports reflect recorded history and current state so you can analyze, archive, or move data elsewhere.

When is Anchorline a bad fit?

Anchorline may not be a good fit if:

  • You only need quick edits with no interest in history
  • You want automatic predictions or forecasts
  • You expect the system to hide mistakes instead of showing them

Anchorline prioritizes clarity and traceability over convenience.

Where should I go next?

If you are new, start with:

  • Create your first log
  • Track money or manage a collection
